Don Carlos Bell III, President

Don Bell is President of Tidal Research. As President, Don is ultimately responsible for the service results Tidal achieves for our clients, as well as our corporate growth. Don brings to Tidal his deep expertise as a technology marketing executive, and investor-operator.

During the ten years prior to launching Tidal, Don was a senior executive with two portfolio companies of Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, and a member of the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs Group. Most recently, Don served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development for IPC Systems, a 1000-person technology company serving clients in 40 countries. In 2006, Don led the $805 million sale of IPC to Silver Lake Partners in a leveraged buyout. As the head of worldwide Marketing, Don also led the development of the fastest-selling technology in the company’s 33-year history, the IQMAX, exceeding $100 million of orders in its first year.

Prior to IPC, Don served as Vice President of Clearwire, a wireless broadband provider. Don led Clearwire’s business development and product development functions prior to the 2003 sale of the company from Goldman Sachs Capital Partners to Eagle River Holdings, the investment vehicle of Cingular founder Craig McCaw.

Before Clearwire, Don was an investment banker in the Mergers and Strategic Advisory Group of Goldman Sachs, where he completed over $15 billion of mergers and financing transactions, and received the 2000 Goldman Sachs Innovation Award.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Don was Director of International Marketing for Time Warner Electronic Publishing, an interactive gaming company. Don began his career at FCB/San Francisco on the Levi's Jeans advertising account.

Don holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (1998), and a BA in Classics, with honors, from St. John’s College (1992).

Steve Clark, Chief SEO Engineer

Steve Clark is currently the Chief SEO Engineer at Tidal Research, where he oversees the strategy and implementation of all agency campaigns. Steve's roots are in web development and content management systems. He has been doing SEO, e-commerce, and internet marketing for over 7 years.

Prior to joining Tidal Research, Steve worked with Avenue A | Razorfish, an interactive agency recently acquired by Microsoft. Steve was responsible for the optimization of websites for clients in various verticals such as finance, publishing, home decor, airlines, pharmaceutical, telecom, and travel. He oversaw SEO campaigns for companies such as Carnival Cruise Lines, Northwest Airlines, BellSouth, Waterfont Media, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. His SEO campaigns have been recognized through industry publications and awards.

While at the New York Life Insurance Company, Steve was responsible for managing the day to day operations of newyorklife.com. Using natural search engine optimization, he increased revenues through online lead generation by 30%.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Colgate University.

Heather Shelton, Senior SEO Engineer

Heather is an accomplished organic search engine marketing professional with a dedicated history of securing top ten rankings, significantly increasing overall traffic and improving ROI for Fortune 500 clients.

Prior to Tidal Research, Heather was an SEO specialist at Avenue A | Razorfish. During her five year tenure on the natural search teams at AARF and Tidal Research, she has directed successful SEO campaigns for clients in various industries including consumer packaged goods, financial services, pharmaceutical, travel and e-commerce.

Before developing custom code and implementing server-side solutions in her role as an SEO specialist, Heather also served as an SEO Account Manager at AA | RF for multiple companies including Careerbuilder, HouseValues and Getty Images. Her background in both account management and technical development enables her to clearly communicate technical obstacles to non-technical audiences.

Heather graduated with honors from Bryn Mawr College and holds a degree in Philosophy.
